Contralateral Box Step Ups
There are many variations of box steps, this particular variation is fucked up. Why? Because of the time under tension on the working leg. Throughout the movement, you don’t ever stop unload the front leg because you’re only using the back leg to measure the ROM.
An athlete can choose to either hold a dumbbell or kettlebell in the opposite hand of the working leg, however a kettlebell is the preferred implementation of resistance. For body weight modifications, the most optimal position for the contralateral limb is to let it hang directly under, but not to swing freely.
We recommend 3-4 sets of 10-15 repetitions on each leg.
